2012 included a technical visit around the London Gateway Port development with a technical and knowledge exchange seminar held at the ICE in London. Both events were well attended by young professionals.

2013 activities

PIANC International Young Professionals Commission (YPCom) 2013 meeting at the Panama Canal, 8-9 July 2013. All PIANC YP members welcome to attend. PIANC UK have funded £ 800 funding towards attendance. See News page for more details

Young Professionals Technical Seminar, 10 June 2013 at the Institute of Civil Engineers, London. An evening seminar with around 6 young professional members from leading UK maritime consultants, contractors and owner/operators giving a short presentation on projects they have influenced. There will be networking drinks afterwards. This is normally a well attended event and represents an excellent CPD experience for speakers and attendees. For more info, visit our events page.

PIANC De Paepe-Willems Award

The PIANC De Paepe-Willems Award (DPWA) is granted every year for Young Professionals who submit a paper on subjects in the fields of design, construction, improvement, maintenance of operation of inland and maritime waterways (rivers, estuaries, canals, port approaches), of inland and maritime ports and of coastal areas. The Award consists of an amount of € 4,000 and free individual membership of PIANC for a three-year period.  and publication in the October issue of PIANC’s e-Magazine ‘On Course’. The winner will be invited to present his/her paper at the General Assembly, for 2017 this will be held in Cairns on 19 June 2017.
